What a journey! The last few days have been a blur of altitude, stunning scenery, and pure grit. Huge thanks to the organizers for putting together the my first-ever 100K trail run over these beautiful Himalayan passes.
Pre-Race Buzz: November 28th
• Flew into Pokhara from Bhairahawa—the excitement was already building!
• Met up with the crew, Arihant and friends, at Ranipauwa Sports Center.
• Bib collected, QR scanned, and then a final, short briefing before we headed out.
• 4:07 PM: Bus ride to the race venue, Yanjakot. Reached at 5:17 PM, where the warmth of the local community was instantly uplifting! We were greeted with garlands, sel roti, and aaloo chana curry. The perfect fuel and welcome!
Race Day: November 29th (The Ultimate Challenge)
• 7:39 AM: The start gun finally went off (a slight technical delay couldn't dampen the spirit!).
• The Ascent to Karpu Danda: A brutal, approximately 10KM-long first ascent right out of Yanjakot. That elevation gain was a true test!
• Then came the tricky descent to Tangting on a slippery, challenging path. Focus was key!
• Siklis Welcome: After a straight earthen road through the jungle and uphill, we reached Siklis! The welcome was phenomenal—garlands, smiles, and much-needed refueling: bread, jam, pickle, and more sel roti. A big thanks to the locals! Quick stop to fill my flask with water and electrolytes.
The loop continued: straight route through the picturesque village, back to Yanjakot by 5:50 PM, and then for the final, daunting lap—a second pass through Siklis and Tanting village.
The Finish Line!
• 6:48 AM (The Next Day!): Crossed the finish line back in Yanjakot! The effort, the views, the struggle—it was all worth it.
A massive shout-out to the organizing team for the wonderful management and opportunity. This was an unforgettable adventure and a landmark event for Himalayan trail running. My legs are officially done, but my heart is full!
